The company receives or provides devices for its customers and can provide various value-added services for the client’s devices. This can range from adding configurations for device management on laptops to decommissioning a company cellphone from a company fleet. They needed a flexible inventory management system capable of supporting diverse scenarios such as configuration, deployment, and decommissioning.
After years of relying on Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), the company turned to Oracle Cloud SCM paired with FlexiPro to enhance efficiency, strengthen inventory accuracy, and improve customer satisfaction.

Challenge #1 – Manual Processes for Inventory Management
- End-users needed to remember specific details (like the subinventory or locator) when scanning information for a put away.
- Errors occur if users incorrectly entered a put away detail and caused discrepancies in the inventory account.
- Users needed to perform multiple, repetitive scans to record basic information. This led to inefficiencies and increased time per transaction during the picking process.
Solution:
- Suggesting subinventory & locator during the PO put away process based on custom business logic. This logic helps to automate the put away process and reduce manual errors.
- Enable bulk picking of multiple pick slip numbers at the same time, reducing the overall time to pick confirm and boosting efficiency. The team needed to support 2 types of item serialization setup – one at Sales Order Issue and another at Inventory Receipt.
Challenge #2 – Ensure Industry Leading Customer Service
- Customers expected fast, accurate answers about orders and inventory. Needed a solution to quickly validate data like serial numbers.
- Outdated labeling software slowed down shipping and increased risk of errors.
Solution:
- Implemented the ability to generate packing unit labels by passing the number of packing units needed to FlexiPro, eliminating reliance on legacy software.
- Enabled cross-manufacturer serial number validation at both receipt and pick/pack stages, providing traceability and confidence for customers and company leadership.
Challenge #3 – Leverage Best Practices While Remaining Agile
- Needed to embrace best practices present in Oracle Cloud SCM while supporting custom modifications that provided a competitive edge in their inventory management process.
Solution:
- FlexiPro enabled capturing and storing serial numbers before ship confirmation—a process not native to Oracle Cloud SCM but critical to the company’s service model.
