Leading Consumer Products Manufacturer Modernizes Supply Chain with Oracle Cloud and FlexiPro Mobility and Labeling

Background:

A leading consumer products manufacturer, recognized as a household name in adhesives, was previously running its warehouse operations on an aging on-premise system that could no longer scale with the company’s rapid growth. With aggressive goals to expand its customer base and product reach, the company recognized the need to transition to a modern, cloud-based system that offered scalability, robust support, and the flexibility to handle future demand.

At the same time, the company placed a strong emphasis on customer success. As order volumes grew, the ability to generate accurate, customer-specific labels and placards became a critical requirement to ensure shipping accuracy, meet unique customer expectations, and strengthen satisfaction. Oracle Cloud WMS and SCM, paired with Intellinum’s FlexiPro, offered the perfect combination: industry best practices in the cloud, enhanced with flexible, mobile-first solutions to meet the customer’s specialized business needs.

Objectives:
  • Enable Mobility: Provide modern RF experience for warehouse staff with a richer UI and support for personalized workflows.
  • Improve Labeling Accuracy: Generate custom placards, case and pallet labels by customer and shipping method.
  • Enhance Waving & Picking: Improve allocation controls, customer priority management, and label printing integration.
  • Support Manufacturing Requirements: Extend WMS manufacturing RF screens to meet material and work order requirements. Support various date requirements (MFG, Born On and Lot expiration dates)
  • Increase Efficiency: Reduce manual processes, redundant scanning, and task congestion in WMS.
Challenge #1 – Labeling Complexity:
  • The customer ships with ~8 pick types, each requiring unique case label formats per customer.
  • Oracle WMS Cloud does not support case into pallet labeling as standard functionality. Workarounds exist but do not meet all requirements.
Solution:
  • Designed custom case labeling solutions integrated with Flexi and Express Labels.
  • Supported case label printing both with and without SSCC codes depending on customer and shipping method (Parcel, TL/LTL, SL).
  • Implemented PaaS logic to generate inner LPNs, maintain relationships between OBLPNs and inner LPNs, and ensure label sequencing.
  • Flexi customization allowed operators to scan and validate inner LPNs during picking.
Challenge #2 – Waving & Allocation Controls:
  • Workarounds required creating multiple wave templates, complicating monitoring and control.
  • Need for manual waving to support customer-specific priorities and replenishments.
Solution:
  • Designed two wave templates (Parcel, TL/LTL) with integration into Flexi for label generation.
  • Flexi custom screens supported nesting and SSCC assignment for pallets.
  • Allowed higher control over allocation and improved operational monitoring.
Challenge #3 – Manufacturing Transactions & Movement Requests:
  • Each Movement Request (MR) generated multiple tasks, overwhelming RF users.
  • No ability in Oracle WMS to filter tasks by MR or component, creating inefficiency.
Solution:
  • Option 1: Use Oracle WMS task management with HELD status and supervisor assignment (limited).
  • Option 2 (Implemented): Flexi custom screen where forklift operators scan MR numbers, view components, and dispatch tasks based on priority. This reduced congestion and improved FEFO/FIFO compliance.
  • Additional custom Flexi screens supported WO issue, WO completion, returns to WMS, and automatic LOT/expiration derivation.
Results:

By deploying Oracle Cloud SCM with FlexiPro, the customer transformed its warehouse and manufacturing operations:

  • Warehouse personnel transact on a modern, intuitive RF solution tailored to their processes.
  • Case and pallet labeling are now automated, customer-specific, and fully integrated with picking and waving.
  • Manufacturing moves are streamlined with priority-based task dispatching and LOT/serial tracking.
  • The customer gained efficiency across receiving, inventory, picking, and shipping, reducing errors while meeting customer demands for accurate labeling and shipping.
