Global Personal Care Manufacturer Unifies Supply Chain Operations with Oracle Cloud SCM and FlexiPro™

Background:

A global leader in personal care products that operates well-known consumer brands works in a highly regulated industry that demands precision, compliance, and operational consistency. Built through acquisitions, the organization faced fragmented supply chain operations across multiple locations, including Puerto Rico, Illinois, and California. With strict FDA requirements around lot tracking and serialization, the company needed a solution that could unify and streamline manufacturing, inventory, and distribution processes across all sites.

The organization transitioned off PeopleSoft and HighJump and selected Oracle Cloud SCM combined with Intellinum’s FlexiPro™ to modernize and standardize its supply chain execution. FlexiPro™ was chosen for its flexibility, robust manufacturing and quality support, and native integration with Oracle Cloud SCM.

Objectives:
  • Unify Processes Across Locations: Replace legacy systems and eliminate fractured processes inherited through acquisitions.
  • Enhance Operational Accuracy: Support lot-controlled personal care items in compliance with FDA regulations.
  • Improve Mobility: Leverage mobile and QR code technologies for faster, more accurate inventory and manufacturing operations.
  • Support Multi-Language Users: Enable users across multiple regions to operate efficiently in their preferred languages.
  • Streamline Labeling and LPN Support: Introduce LPN-based receiving, putaway, and manufacturing traceability.
Challenges:
  • Fractured Supply Chain Operations: Acquired sites operated with inconsistent processes and tools, leading to inefficiencies and lack of process governance.
  • Strict Regulatory Requirements: The organization needed to ensure lot tracking and traceability met FDA guidelines, with no room for error.
  • Outdated Systems: PeopleSoft and HighJump lacked modern mobility features and native Oracle Cloud SCM integration.
  • Limited Barcode Capabilities: Previous systems did not support QR codes or combination barcode scanning for improved efficiency.
Solutions:

The organization implemented the full suite of Intellinum FlexiPro™ modules to support inbound, inventory, outbound, manufacturing, quality, and label printing operations. Key features included:

  • Inbound LPNs for Receiving & Putaway:Introduced LPNs at the receiving dock, enabling bulk receipt of inbound shipments and single-scan putaway for individual pallets.
  • QR & Combo Barcode Scanning:Enabled workers to scan multiple data points—including item, lot, and quantity—from a single QR code, reducing scans and increasing efficiency.
  • Full Manufacturing & Quality Module Support:Prebuilt integrations supported production tracking, quality holds, and end-to-end lot traceability from raw materials to finished goods.
  • Multi-Language Capability:The FlexiPro™ UI allowed users in Puerto Rico and other regions to work in their local languages, increasing adoption and reducing training time.
  • Flexible, Uniform Workflows:Delivered a standardized execution platform while accommodating site-level operational variations.
Results:
  • Standardized and governed supply chain operations: Unified inbound, manufacturing, inventory, and outbound processes across all sites, replacing fragmented legacy workflows with a single, scalable execution model while still supporting site-level flexibility.
  • Stronger compliance and risk reduction: Achieved end-to-end lot traceability and serialization aligned with FDA requirements, improving audit readiness and significantly reducing recall risk and compliance exposure.
  • Improved operational efficiency and accuracy: LPN-based receiving and QR/combo barcode scanning reduced manual touches, scan counts, and errors across warehouse and manufacturing operations, increasing throughput and execution speed.
  • Future-ready platform for growth: Established a modern Oracle Cloud SCM–native foundation that lowers total cost of ownership and enables rapid onboarding of new sites, products, and acquisitions without reintroducing process fragmentation.

A Supply Chain Manager at the organization shared:

“Moving to Oracle Cloud SCM with FlexiPro™ allowed us to standardize how we operate across all of our sites while still respecting local requirements. We now have far fewer manual workarounds on the floor. The mobility, LPN handling, and QR scanning have improved accuracy and productivity for our teams. It feels like we have a very scalable platform that can support future growth.”
